MY EXPERIENCE AS AN ASSISTANT
by Didier Maugin
After participating in the Satvatove Institute seminars and Life Mastery Program, I was eager to serve on staff to help others take advantage of these powerful programs. In 2006 I got the opportunity to be a staff member in two sets of courses, in Navadwipa, India and in Glastonbury, England.
These staffing experiences were full of realizations and inspirations for me. I really appreciated the courage and determination of the participants, facing themselves and their lives with honesty. I felt honored to be part of this journey. Also, I realized the importance to work as a team, with the assistants and facilitator, to create an environment that is most helpful for the growth and process of the students.
During my most recent assisting experience, in Glastonbury, I realized more clearly the importance as a staff member to live the principle of Be-Do-Have. In that consciousness it was natural for me to be present and concentrated, without separate endeavor. This is a realization that I take into my life, clearing the way for me to live joyfully and with fulfillment.
For many years I have been actively involved in a spiritual path. Though I had apprehension that I would not have the determination and focus to adhere to my spiritual practices under the rigor and long hours of staffing, in Glastonbury I did so, and I noticed the effect this had on my consciousness, on my ability to serve the participants with clarity and compassionate non-attachment.
