SATVATOVE INSTITUTE COMMUNITY NEWS

========================================================

Dear Friends,

2007 has been characterized by innovation in the Satvatove world. Personally I've been stretched and challenged with opportunities to create and introduce new programs. In the process I've learned much, and grown a lot (at least, I think so- maybe those close to me have a different view).

Early in February of this year in Switzerland we conducted the first full-day staff training. This was a greatly successful training, creating a close, intimate atmosphere for assistants and facilitator to effectively serve the course participants for the next two weeks. We look forward to the next staff training on Jan. 31st, also in Switzerland, before the Foundational/Advanced Seminars beginning on Feb. 2nd.

Other unique events in 2007 included a half-day program for Satvatove course graduates in Florida in June, a series of six radio programs, new workshops such as Balancing Your Life, presented at a health and fitness center, and Transformative Communication: A Foundation for Conscious Living, presented to about 800 people in Los Angeles. Also we're excited about the many group telecoaching classes, on topics such as parenting, couples, spirituality, coaching ethics and career/abundance, that took place this past year, and will soon schedule teleseminars for 2008. 2007 also saw Satvatove seminars in schools, the corporate environment, and expansions and innovations in programs such as our coach training, including the dynamic coach partners program. The regularity of the newsletter itself has been a strengthening force for the Satvatove community.

Acknowledging our accomplishments, and celebrating our successes, is an energizing consciousness for creating achievement and fulfillment in our future. As you declare your intentions for 2008, I encourage you to recognize your achievements during the past year.

Many persons have found utilization of the Personal Achievement Compact (PACT) to be very valuable in clarifying what is vitally important for them, and developing a plan to fulfill their life vision in each life area. It's been more than two years since I've written a PACT, and I'm in the process of writing one now, to prepare for living 2008 with intention, inspiration and integrity. At the end of this newsletter are guidelines for writing your PACT.

If writing a full PACT seems a bit much, here is an action strategy to immediately move forward in a chosen area of your life. Select a life dimension, such as health, relationships, or career, and rate it from 0 to 10, with 0 indicating no fulfillment in that area, and 10 representing complete fulfillment. Identify three things you are willing to commit to do in the next month to raise it by half a point. Choose a person to whom you will be accountable for reporting your progress and success in taking these actions, and follow through with your action steps.

The process of personal growth involves accomplishing goals, and more essentially it is about cultivating favorable habits that form a long-term, balanced foundation for a profoundly satisfying life of achievement, contribution and character development. A few years ago two LMP members, Anna and Shree, created the Post-Advanced Seminar Experience Workbook, which has been a powerful vehicle for graduates of the Advanced Course to cultivate healthy habits in their lives. For me it's been rewarding to coach people who use the processes in the 108-day workbook to transform their lives. It's a bit awkward to admit that I've never done this workbook myself, and one of my commitments for 2008 is, starting January 1st, to do the workbook to completion.

Think what it would mean for your experience of life to acquire four auspicious habits per year, or even one. What would that look like ten years from now, in your being, doing and having? This might mean adopting a positive health habit, or giving up a destructive one, or perhaps embracing a new and vitalizing practice in your financial management, or communication patterns. Take the opportunity of the new year to start now. Be in the habit of cultivating life-enriching habits.

With respect, appreciation, and best wishes for 2008,

David Wolf

PERSONAL ACHIEVEMENT COMPACT:

The Personal Achievement Compact (PACT) is a blueprint for achieving your goals. The PACT is an important document that you create, declaring what matters for you and committing to accomplish meaningful results in key areas of your life. Research has shown that writing one's goals significantly increases chances for achieving them. This PACT is a self-generated road map for creating a life that excites and inspires you. Many have found that the process of writing this PACT is in itself a valuable personal growth experience.

To create your PACT consider what you'd like to achieve in each area of your life during the next year. Here are some categories that may help you to formulate this strategic plan for your life:

Spiritual life/Sadhana, Relationships/Family, Professional/Career,

Health/Fitness/Body, Recreation/Hobbies, Community,

Finances/Abundance, Other Projects (e.g., writing, travel, residential,

and anything else that might not fit into other categories)

Take inventory of each of these areas. We suggest that for each life dimension you realistically assess your present situation in relation to what you would consider ideal. Rate your life in each area, with 0 being "completely unsatisfying" and 10 being

"fully satisfied". You determine how many life areas on which to focus in your PACT. Some people include a dozen areas, and others focus on two or three.

For each area, list the accomplishments that you will achieve within one month, two months, six months and one year. This format may not be relevant for all accomplishments, though it may apply to several achievements listed in your PACT. For example, if your goal is to complete an online course within 108 days, then the intermediary goal format may be very helpful, including a list of readings and assignments to be completed after one week, after one month, etc. If one of your goals is to spend one three-hour period reorganizing files, then the intermediate step approach may not be relevant.

For each goal, or set of related goals, in your PACT write a sentence or two explaining why it is important for you to achieve that goal, and how you'll feel when you accomplish it. Also, for each major section of your PACT, such as "relationships", "career", "spirituality" or "health", write a statement that identifies the specific qualities you'll need to manifest to fulfill the goals in that section of your PACT. Express this statement in the form of "I am...", such as "I am clear, secure and confident." Also, at the top of your PACT write the date that the PACT was written.

List the specific actions that you will take to fulfill your goal. For example, if the accomplishment is to be engaged in satisfying employment within two months, then actions connected with that might be to prepare a quality resume within two weeks, and to send out thirty resumes within one month. If the intended accomplishment is to improve at least ten relationships in your life, then an accompanying action could be to do at least half an hour of empathic listening with at least two relationships per week for the next 2 months. Each accomplishment should be stated in terms that are specific, observable and measurable. Additionally, for each accomplishment explain why it is important for your life. This statement should include how you will feel by achieving this goal. In this PACT you are challenging yourself to achieve high, yet realistic standards. The PACT is not a wish list. You are committed to achieve 100% of what you declare in this PACT.

You are invited to include longer-term goals in your PACT. For example, your PACT may include 2, 5 or 10 year goals. The expression of these longer-term goals will include specific statements about what you'll do and accomplish within the next week, month, 6-months, etc., toward your longer-term goals. We encourage you to share your PACT with others whom you trust and who are also involved in the PACT process.
