SATVATOVE INSTITUTE COMMUNITY NEWS

========================================================
Dear Reader,
Satvatove is a dynamic and growing Institute. Each week, each month, more people are involved in various ways in the Satvatove mission. Exciting new programs offer new possibilities for anyone to benefit and take part in the adventure of personal growth, fulfilling life visions, improving relationships and making the world a better place.
Group coaching sessions have begun. I personally took part in a session on Spirituality and a session on Career/Abundance. I left both sessions feeling empowered, enlivened and encouraged to move forward in my life.
The date for the next semester to start the Coaching Apprenticeship is November 20th. For further information, please read the article below.
Satvatove is looking for a new webmaster. Antoine Palmer has designed the Satvatove webpage and is offering his support for anyone who is interested to take over that position. Read the letter below for more details.
I hope this newsletter meets you well
Sincerely,
Annette

EVERY EMOTION HAS ITS PLACE by Xavier Thomas, France
A few months ago I was riding horses with my brother and his son and daughter. Taking the opportunity that my brother was far behind, busy with his little son, I asked my niece (10) about her relationship with one of her classmates. I know this girl is envious of my niece in many respects. Yet, Marina considers her a good friend.
In the past, my brother told me that the situation affected her so much that sometimes she didn't want to go to school, saying she felt a knot in her belly and wanted to vomit. Knowing that this may be a symptom of fear, I wanted to speak with her. I have a trusting and natural relationship with my niece; she's at ease with me. A few times she directly expressed that she likes her crazy uncle.
Once Marina told me that she was sick of feeling rejected by her friend because she has better grades than her, more admirers, she's better at tennis, etc. Marina was exhausted with these childish games. "Today, you're not my friend and I won't play with you in the courtyard," or "You can come back and play with us". Childish maybe, but my niece was deeply affected and cried a lot due to this. I did reflective listening with Marina and encouraged her to express aloud her fear of going to school.
So there we were, Marina and I, riding horses. I asked what's happening in her relationship with her friend. She said it's okay, but something was telling me it was not. So we stopped and I used concreteness to know more precisely what was happening. I gave her space to express herself. She was silent. Gradually I noticed tears in Marina's eyes, as she clutched the reins. Her mouth was quivering, and her teeth clenched.
Suddenly Marina burst out with insults and name-calling. My niece is a model pupil- well-behaved, caring and loving. She doesn't like criticism and never name calls- a really nice girl! So I was astonished that she used such coarse and rude expressions. I don't think Marina even knows the meaning of the words she used, though these words were charged with rage and acrimony. This for me was the essence of what was vitally important. Emotions that had been stifled were coming alive within her, and expressed in a safe way.
Also I know that Marina would not have responded in such a way if my brother had been present, because such expressions would so starkly contradict her daughter image. I was glad for my niece because she managed to express her feelings of anger and powerlessness. She so much wanted that her friend accept her as she is. Also it became clear that Marina was most angry and frustrated with herself for not being able to handle the situation. Afterwards she felt better, freed from the poison of suppressed anger.
I presume no professional mastery of these matters, but I think accepting and expressing anger relieves us and diminishes the pressure that it can create inside. I speak from my experience, and my conviction is that each of us has the capacity to handle our anger in a healthy and productive manner, expressing it in a way that is healing, rather than damaging. For some, expressing anger can be very uncomfortable, as it may contrast how we like to appear- the nice girl, the wise person, the good boy.
A couple of days before writing this, in a group coaching session on parenting I heard that it is not by chance that I am the father of my daughter. It is a perfect arrangement, with a reason connected with the personal growth of both of us. After reading my article I've realized the truth in this, and the truth that I have a special purpose to fulfill with my niece too, and in every one of my relationships.

SATVATOVE IS LOOKING FOR A NEW WEBMASTER
It has been my pleasure to work with Satvatove Institute in developing the current website at www.Satvatove.org. It has given me an opportunity to learn a lot about web design, programming, and internet marketing. At the moment, however, I am fully engaged in developing two new businesses in Canada, and have limited time to invest in the further development of Satvatove's online services.
For those members of the Satvatove community who are interested in this project, I am willing to assist you to become familiar with the structure and systems of the website, and would be available for ongoing support for new development ideas, specific technical questions, marketing strategies, etc.
From the technical side, Satvatove.org is a very creative and dynamic online application, based on HTML, CSS, PHP, and a MySQL database. It employs a custom built CMS (content management system) for front-end content, client registration, student training, and reference material. It is well-organized and relatively easy to maintain and expand on. If you are somewhat familiar with the internet, this is a great opportunity for you to practice and expand your skills, while working with a great team on an inspiring project.
If you feel you might like to participate in this project, please contact
us at webmaster@satvatove.org and we can discuss further details.
Yours truly,
Antoine Palmer

OPEN FORUM
Frequently asked questions and answers about Group Coaching.
CAN I PARTICIPATE IN THE GROUP COACHING IF I HAVE NOT TAKEN THE SATVATOVE SEMINARS?
Everyone is invited to be part of group coaching. These group sessions are meant for anyone ready and willing to explore with others a specific area of their life, and broaden their possibilities and opportunities in this area.
IS IT OKAY TO TAKE SOME SESSIONS, BUT NOT ALL 6 IN THE PACKAGE?
Yes, each session is designed as a complete unit.
I WANT TO TAKE 6 SESSIONS, THOUGH NOT ALL IN THE SAME AREA.
That's fine. You can use your sessions in whatever area you choose. For example, you could take 3 sessions in Spirituality, 1 in Parenting, and 2 in Career/Abundance.
I FEEL SHY ABOUT GETTING IN A GROUP SESSION WITH PEOPLE I DO NOT KNOW.
Though you will be invited to share during these sessions, you will not be pressured or forced. Also, many persons get important insight from hearing the sharing of others, and witnessing the process of others in handling challenges in situations similar to their own. So, even if you choose to be relatively quiet during sessions, there is still profound opportunity for personal growth in group coaching.
