Dear Reader,

Welcome to the 13th issue of the Satvatove newsletter in 2007.

Read Jessica's inspiring article about her transforming life experiences after the Foundational and Advanced Seminars.

This month Satvatove is conducting group coaching sessions on Spirituality, Parenting, and Career/Abundance. Group coaching is a great opportunity to reconnect with and expand your experience and insights from the seminars or previous personal coaching, and also it's wonderful way to get a first experience of a Satvatove program, for those who have not attended a workshop or seminar, or taken personal coaching sessions. In the Open Forum of this newsletter you will find frequently asked questions and answers related to the group coaching program.

Sincerely,

Annette

LEARNING TO SPEAK UP

by Jessica Kennedy, England

I attended the Satvatove seminars in Glastonbury in late 2006, and as time goes by I find it more and more clear that they've made a profound difference in how I'm living my life. I have really embraced taking responsibility for who I am and how I am - and also for creating the life that I want and the experiences that I want.

I've become much braver and I express myself more authentically. The seminars and coaching encouraged me to confront all kinds of things in my relationships. Many of these steps I embarked on with great doubt! Time after time I have taken the risk and spoken my truth to others, while internally wincing and ducking for cover, only to see amazing positive transformation take place in the relationships. Now, when I get that 'no way' feeling, I take it as a sign that if I go for it, it will surely turn out for the best.

This summer I went on a course in my field of Chinese medicine that talked about the role of truth and compassion in lifelong good health. The more we speak the truth, the more we cultivate our Shen or spirit, provided we speak from the heart as well as the mind, with compassion and authenticity. Lying and denial hammer our Jing, the essence which gives us a vibrant journey from cradle to grave. It's all very Satvatove, of course. The same messages and wisdom come at us from all different traditions and disciplines.

So time passes and I see that I am imbued with a new approach to many aspects of life. I'm noticing experiences I would not have had withoutSatvatove.

I spent some time with my dad this summer. He lives abroad and I don't see him much. One evening I found myself increasingly frustrated and upset, a familiar feeling. I knew that speaking up was the change I needed to make, and lo, I did. We talked freely and discovered that both of us found our relationship restricting. He said he experienced me as judgmental and shutting him down. I saw truth in that, and I'm exercising more choice in how I deal with him. I expressed my anger, and by hearing his perspective, experienced a real shift from anger to compassion. I suddenly saw that where I had been angry with him for not giving to me in various ways, it was because he didn't have those things to give. It was nothing to do with me. He wasn't capable, and that was sad for him more than me. I let go of demanding he be a certain way, and feel much lighter for it.

Recently someone suggested to me that the qualities we admire in others are the ones that we don't realise that we ourselves possess in abundance. Conversely, the qualities of others we find annoying may be ones we could usefully develop more of ourselves. Before Satvatove, I would have smiled and nodded, but now I really took it in. I reflected on who I really admire and why, and on those qualities in myself, and on those who annoy me - one of them was right there at the time, going on and on (and on and on). As I sat there, not expressing my frustration at all, I thought, why yes, of course, it's so true that I can learn from her! She IS a good role model for me. If I cultivate a little 'going on and on' instead of quiet frustration, that will bring me towards a healthier balance.

And more frivolously, I've been having fun cultivating my femininity. It's even taking on a life of its own and popping up unbidden, like trying to contain an armful of wriggling kittens. When I walk in the park with my dog, men are chatting me up to an almost alarming extent. Ah, the joys of Satvatove...

OPEN FORUM

Frequently asked questions and answers about Group Coaching.

CAN I PARTICIPATE IN THE GROUP COACHING IF I HAVE NOT TAKEN THE SATVATOVE SEMINARS?

Everyone is invited to be part of group coaching. These group sessions are meant for anyone ready and willing to explore with others a specific area of their life, and broaden their possibilities and opportunities in this area.

IS IT OKAY TO TAKE SOME SESSIONS, BUT NOT ALL 6 IN THE PACKAGE?

Yes, each session is designed as a complete unit.

I WANT TO TAKE 6 SESSIONS, THOUGH NOT ALL IN THE SAME AREA.

That's fine. You can use your sessions in whatever area you choose. For example, you could take 3 sessions in Spirituality, 1 in Parenting, and 2 in Career/Abundance.

I FEEL SHY ABOUT GETTING IN A GROUP SESSION WITH PEOPLE I DO NOT KNOW.

Though you will be invited to share during these sessions, you will not be pressured or forced. Also, many persons get important insight from hearing the sharing of others, and witnessing the process of others in handling challenges in situations similar to their own. So, even if you choose to be relatively quiet during sessions, there is still profound opportunity for personal growth in group coaching.
